Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member and former lawmaker Alhaj Mokbul Hossain passed away at a city hospital tonight(Sunday).

He was 70. “Mokbul Hossain breathed his last around 9pm at the Combined Military Hospital, Dhaka where he was undergoing treatment,” Mokbul’s personal assistant Fazlur Rahman said.

Mokbul, who was elected MP from Dhanmondi-Mohammadpur constituency in 1996, left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader expressed profound shock and sorrow at the
death of Alhaj Mokbul Hossain.

In a condolence message, the minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
