Work underway to build country’s first helipad: Civil Aviation Secy
Md Mohibul Haque, senior secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

Md Mohibul Haque, senior secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, said on Wednesday that work is underway to build the country's first helipad as per the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A suitable location for the helipad has also been identified, he said.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the Zoom Conference titled "Tourism: A Penalty Shoot for the Economy of Bangladesh" jointly organised  by Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and Bhraman Travel Magazine.

A committee has been formed by the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority to carry out the additional work of the construction of the helipad, which will submit a report soon, said the secretary.

After the committee submits its report, a formal announcement will be made on various issues related to the construction of the helipad, added Mohibul.

He said that work is also underway to formulate a policy for the development of tourism in Bangladesh. This policy will specify the responsibilities of each ministry involved in tourism so that they can play a role in the development of tourism in Bangladesh by performing their respective rule properly.

The joint initiative of all government and non-government organizations  is needed for the development of tourism.

It is not possible to achieve the desired progress of tourism without integrated initiatives, said the senior secretary.
