COVID-19;373 die,21,514 infected, recover 18,512 in Khulna

With detection of 49 more positive cases in all ten districts of the division on Wednesday, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 21,514.

A total of 18,512 have been cured from the lethal virus infection and the recovery rate now stands at 86.04 percent ,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

She said 49 new positive cases were reported after testing 156 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and others two respective COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 22 were detected in Jashore followed by nine in Kushtia, eight in Khulna, four in Jhenidah, three in Chuadanga, two in Narail and one in Meherpur in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients – 6,283 are in Khulna, 3,831 in Jashore, 3,219 in Kushtia, 1,894 in Jhenaidah, 1,410 in Chuadanga, 1,311 in Narail, 1,093 in Satkhira, 979 in Bagerhat, 895 in Magura and 599 in Meherpur, she added.

“Of the total 21,514 coronavirus infected persons, 2,291 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 18,512 have recovered and 373 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr.

Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands to 373 in the division with one death was reported to Jhenidah on Wednesday.

The district-wise break-up of the fatalities as follows ; 94 in Khulna, 69 in Kushtia, 45 in Jashore, 33 in Jhenaidah, 32 in Chuadanga, , 30 in Satkhira, 22 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail,15 in Meherpur and 13 in Magura .

“The average casualty rate among all 21,514 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 1.73 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 82 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while others 108 were released in all ten districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12 noon today.

A total of 59,366 people had, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Of them, 57,830 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 2,291 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
