Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's 'Doob' most viewed content on Netflix from Bangladesh

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's last international film "Doob" (No Bed of Roses) has become the most viewed content from Bangladesh on popular streaming platform Netflix.

The much-talked-about 2017 film – starring Irrfan Khan, Parno Mittra, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Rokeya Prachy in key roles – entered the streaming platform on February 5.

But it did not take long for the film to secure the first spot on Netflix's top 10 most-watched movies and shows list in Bangladesh.

And Farooki on Sunday shared his excitement on Facebook saying, "Thank you for making 'Doob' (No Bed of Roses) today's most viewed content on Netflix from Bangladesh!"

"Every film is a labour of love. Some are just more than that.

This film is very close to my heart for many reasons! Someday I might be able to write why!"

The collaborative joint-venture – produced by Bangladesh's Jaaz Multimedia, India's Eskay Movies, and Irrfan – "Doob" was released in Dhaka on October 27, 2017.

The film is about a filmmaker, his extramarital affair with his daughter's classmate, and complicated relationship with his wife.

It achieved critical acclaim around the world and also received an independent jury award at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival and was nominated for Golden Goblet Awards at Shanghai International Film Festival just before its theatrical release.

Later the film was screened at many festivals including at the Moscow International Film Festival, South Asian Film Festival in Paris, Vancouver International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival.

The film was initially banned in Bangladesh based on the allegation that it was loosely based on late eminent Bangladeshi writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed's life.

However, Farooki had denied the claim and later received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
