Since after independence Bangladesh has maintained a stable growth figure and ranked as the third position in South Asia after Maldives and Nepal. Interesting fact is that, despite ranked as the third country, we have managed to maintain upward trend with balanced growth since 1995 except a downward trend in 2010 and 2013 but the development projects undertaken in our country jerk up the growth scenario in no time.

Meanwhile when the growth scenario witnessed a positive impact then other side of the mirror exhibits clouded impact i.e. pressure of unemployment. As compared to other South Asian countries, Bangladesh falls short of sixth position as the highest share of unemployment as percentage of total labor force and slightly bring progress with compared to Maldives which has highest unemployment trend.

Digging down the male and female share of unemployment in both cases Bangladesh somehow tries to recover its position being the last member in South Asia and slightly bring itself up from Maldives. Actual scenario is quite pathetic in the sense that progress of scaling down of unemployment is far lower with compared to other South Asian nations. While identifying the reason behind such darkest scenario, education system in Bangladesh might be an important factor. Though we have tried to ensure higher enrollment ratio in the earlier age but somehow it drops in the middle age of the school.

Severe policies and implementation programmes have been undertaken i.e. food for education, stipend facilities, provide free book etc. so that every child gets an opportunity to bear the fruit of education but when it comes to family stability in the sense that children has to take the responsibility of the family, their jouney to education being collapsed in very early age. Such kind of illiteracy often creates demand and supply gap when it comes to job market area. Moreover, our recent so called tendency to get engaged in the government job escalates frustration and depletion of moral values which ultimately leads to either participation of violence activities (robbery, rape, gambling etc.) or attempt to suicide. In the recent decades when we are planning to come out from LDC’s then question comes whether we can design a prosperous country without solving such

national level problem i.e. unemployment.

Skilled and educated people are leaving our country to have a better future in developed countries meanwhile without taking steps to train up existing manpower we are thinking towards importing automated machineries that also escalates unemployment slow and steadily.  Two factors simply can be addressed one is institutional policy set up and other one is family perspective that are the vital reasons behind unemployment in recent era in Bangladesh. First one can be highlighted in the sense that organizations are now trying to fully automated their functioning process which push the unskilled labor/employee backward without creating any additional employment opportunity for them; on the other hand family pressure to get involve only in the government job also put additional burden among the job seeker.

In this context, traditional way of learning and having no motivation to learn new software and automated skill often demotivates an individual when it comes to competitive job market. Keeping in view of all the shortcomings some generic attempts should be taken by the government that as an experimental aspect some government job related facilities should be introduced in the private sector so that people get the motivation to get them engaged in those sectors acquiring all those skills necessary to get them entered into that position.

This will support the policies in two ways one way by developing trained manpower who can handle all those automated machineries through their technical knowledge and on the other side can eliminate unemployment level to some extent. Moreover, besides setting economic zone, more and more training zone can be set up where people can get diverse training from different background so that after completing the training they get certification from it which might give them experience related support while entering into the job market.
