Dhaka look to local players to perform, says Jubair

Sports Reporter, Dhaka

Dhaka Dynamites assistant coach Talha Jubair said that the local players have to come up with handy performance alongside their foreign pals of the team in the competitive Twenty20 games of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Jubair also said that they lost the last two back to back matches against Chittagong Vikings and Comilla Victorians due to their inexperienced local players and their mistakes coupled with absent of their key foreign players.

He thinks that a team will win the match and place them in a good position when its local players will perform at the side of its overseas recruits.

“If the top-order would make runs by using the powerplay properly what we had done in the initial matches. But today we didn’t do it.

We scored the lowest total in powerplay yesterday. In this place, if our top-order could give some runs then it becomes easier for the middle or lower order batsmen. They could play without pressure,” said Talha Jubair.

Though today we had no pressure, the batsman who newly came after the dismissal of Shakib he didn’t absorb the pressure. Then we hope if Sohan and Suvagata would play, even play ball to ball, the scenario would then be different,” Jubair told afterwards.

“If we could overcome those mistakes, don’t give our wicket and read the situation, it would be better for Bangladesh also. Always foreigners will not be helped you win. So, our local has to perform. And when local will perform, you will win the match and place you in a good position,” he added.

Even if Dhaka Dynamites lost their back-to-back matches for their inexperienced bowlers and under-performance of the local players along with the absence of the key players-Kieron Pollard and Andre Russell, they are still on the pole position in the points chart with better net run-rate.

He said that they had some problems in finishing stage what they are trying to overcome it along with other mistakes.

“We had a bit problem in finishing stage. We bowled at the last innings in both two matches, so there was pressure. As a youngster, Mohor Sheikh had no such experience,” he said.

“If we would had Andre Russell like batsman, may be we would easily win the match. Last day we did not arrest them by bowling, today (Tuesday) we didn’t chase by batting. Some mistakes are being held for us, where there is a matter of inexperience. Today Naim Sheikh was batting who is also young,” he said.

“In Twenty20, you will not perform equally in every match. We are doing some mistakes. If we could overcome those, I hope, we will bounce back in the next match,” he maintained.

“I hope Pollard will come back in the next match. If we have Pollard in the middle and Russell like batsman in the end, in that case, it is easier for us to chase the arm,” he added.

The red-hot favourites for the 2019 BPL title will play only a match in their Chattogram- leg against holders Rangpur Riders on January 28. So, they will not travel to Chattogram so early as the Dynamites officials confirmed. The fourth leg in Chattogram will begin on Friday.
