Abahani Limited in their bid to retain solo lead I Bangladesh Premier League football will take on Arambgah KS as the sixth round resumes today at the Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
After the fifth round blistering Bashundhara Kings remained unbeaten to lead the points table with 12 points along with the reigning champions Abahani Limited. The latter played five matches and the former played one match less to earn those points.
Sheikh Russel (played four matches) and Saif Sporting Club (five matches) closely following the league leaders Abahani and Bashundhara with 10 points each.
Another exciting side Arambagh Krira Sangha, who have already turned into a great threat for all the title contenders with surging up the ladder by winning three out of their five previous matches, are on third position with nine points leaving behind the former league champions Sheikh Jamal and runners up Chittagong Abahani Limited.
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who narrowly missed the hat-trick championship after celebrating twice in a row, are not also in sound position when they finished their fifth round with seventh position maintaining only two wins as they went down to Muktijoddha by 0-3.
Muktijoddha KC are on eighth position with six points, earning three valuable points by defeating Sheikh Jamal by 3-0 and routing NofeL by 2-0 while their forward Ballo Famousa of Ivory Coast sitting on top among the goal scorers with five goals including a hat-trick followed by Congo’s Ciyo Zunapio of Rahmatganj who scored four goals and local booters Matin Meah of Bashundhara Kings, Nabib Newaz Jibon of Abahani Limited and Jahid Hossain of Arambagh along with the foreign booters Luciano of Sheikh Jamal, Lima Leonardo of Brothers, Sunday Chijoba of Abahani Raphael and Azizob Alisher of Sheikh Russel trailing behind them.
But among the giants, Mohammedan Sporting Club are in ramshackle condition as after finishing the fourth round they are now at third position from bottom with scrapping three points when they suffered three defeats and could only manage a win.
NoFeL Sporting and Team BJMC earned one point, managing one draw each when the former played four matches and the latter completed their fifth round.
