BCB Academy Cup begins today

The second edition of the BCB Academy Cup 2019 will get underway at three different venues in Dhaka and its adjoining areas today.

Gulshan Youth Cricket Academy will face off Golden Boys’ Cricket Academy in Group-A match at the City Club Ground at 9:00 am following an opening ceremony.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and its Games Development Committee chairman Khaled Mahmud Sujon is expected to inaugurate the newly-minted tournament, which is designed for the under-16 cricketers in place of Under-18.

Barishal Talent Cricket Academy will take Khelaghar Cricket Academy in Group-B tie on Jagannath Hall Ground of University of Dhaka, while Friends Social Welfare Cricket Academy will fight against Shishu-Kishore Cricket Academy at Fatullah Outer Stadium in Group-B ficture on the opening day.

Unlike the maiden version, a total of 32 private cricket coaching academies will take part in the meet. But four academies’ teams has newly been included from different parts of the country.

By lottery, the teams have been drawn into eight groups, from where group champions will cruise to the quarter-final.

Barishal Talent Hunt Cricket academy from Barishal, Green Sylhet Cricket Academy from Sylhet, Bangla Trac Cricket Academy from Rajshahi and Brothers Cricket Academy from Chattogram are the newly-entrant teams of the second version. Of them, Brothers Cricket Academy and Bangla Trac Cricket Academy have been pitted in the same Group H.

The winners will then be progressed to the semifinals. In this way, the winners of the semi-final will fight for the championship in the final showdown.
