Bangladesh to appoint foreign coach to train nat’l team

Bangladesh hockey will enter into new era in the international arena in July when Bangladesh will participate in the Asian Indoor Hockey Championship for the first time.

The Asian Hockey Indoor Championship will be held in Thailand in July 15-22.   

Regarding taking part in the Asian indoor hockey competition, BHF has already taken initiative to prepare the team when the team will send to Thailand before two weeks of starting the competition.

BHF have also collected CV of two coaches of Poland through Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) and also keep the former national coach Imam Gopinathan Krishna Murti under their consideration.

Newly elected general secretary Mominul Haque Sayeed informed yesterday that they were trying to have a foreign coach through the Asian Hockey Federation otherwise they have an option of Imam Gopinathan, who has also experiences coaching in the indoor hockey, under him Malaysia women’s hockey team played final in the Asian Hockey Indoor Championship in 2017.

Vice-president of Abdur Rashid Sikder said that they would have a meeting where they would discuss about the CV of the coaches of Poland and also about Malaysian coach Imam Gopinathan.

“We will try Gopinathan for national team he has also experiences with indoor hockey coaching and he also did the job with Malaysian women’s hockey team,” said Rashid.

“Now, we will recruit coach after scrutiny, coaches of Poland are also experienced, we will appoint coaches for two objectives – for coaching the players and to trained our local coaches for the development of our coaches,” said Rashid.
