Govt fails to resolve question leaks, alleges DUCSU VP

CORRESPONDENT, DU

Accusing the Awami League (AL)-led government of failure to put a stop to question papers leaks during its three terms in power, the vice-president of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU), Nurul Haque Nur, attributed this to a lack of good governance. Haque was speaking at a human chain seeking cancellation of the primary recruitment test and demanding a re-examination on Sunday noon, organised at the central Shaheed Minar of Dhaka University (DU).

Haque also said, “This is not our first movement to protest question paper leaks.

Many individuals and students’ organisations have protested earlier. We have been attacked by government-run students’ organisations while protesting against the question paper leaks of universities such as Dhaka University.”

“At that time, the university authorities were forced to cancel the controversial test and re-examine it,” he added.

He also observed that job-seekers are held hostage by power-hungry people, who seek bribes in recruitment of all functionaries, ranging from peons to first-class government officers.

In his speech, Haque urged the primary and mass education ministry to take effective measures to resolve the problem of question paper leaks. The human chain also demanded abolition of the examination of the two-step appointment of assistant teachers at the primary level, bring those involved in question fraud to justice and announce them incompetent for public service.
