question paper leak

RAB arrest BNP leader Mamun Hasan

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

The Rapid Action Battalion yesterday said they arrested former president of the Dhaka University unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Mamun Hasan on Saturday night in connection with leaking question paper of test for recruiting primary school teachers in Patuakhali. RAB’s legal and media wing disclosed this through a press release a day after uniformed RAB men arrested Mamun Hasan, currently a member of the BNP executive committee, and another JCD leader Shahadot.

According to the release, two separate teams of RAB arrested Mamun Hasan from Shantinagar in the capital at about 11.20pm on Saturday and Shahdat Hossain Sohagh, 35 from Galachipa in Patuakhali at 10:45pm on the same day.

The BNP and family members of Mamun Hasan and Shahadot earlier made complaints that RAB was denying their arrests. Mamun’s family members claimed that law enforcers took Mamun away from his residence.

The RAB has claimed that they damaged the government’s image by leaking question papers.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a statement made earlier, also alleged that Mamun was taken away from his residence and RAB members denied it. He also demanded the return of Mamun in good health.

The RAB release also claimed that while interrogating Mamun and Shahadot confessed that the duo used to handover question papers through a group in some districts including Patuakhali.   Legal measures in this connection was in progress, said the release.
