Warns Home Minister Asaduzzaman
UNB, Dhaka

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal yesterday said stern action will be taken against those who try to incite communal disharmony showing no tolerance for

acts that disturb the social fabric of the nation.

The home minister was speaking at a Janmashtami program by a section of the Hindu community at Swamibagh ISKCON temple of the city  in the afternoon.

He said that people of all religions have been celebrating their own religious festivals smoothly over the  last 10 years without any chaos due to  strict surveillance of law enforcement agencies.

“So if anyone tries to incite a quarter centering religion, it will not be tolerated. Strict legal action will be taken,” the home minister said.

The Minister urged all to refrain from giving religiously provocative posts through social media, saying that Bangladesh is more aware of religious discipline than any other country in the world.

“Therefore, do not try to promote any religious instigation posts through social media.

This is my request,” he said.

“If anyone tries it, be aware that our law enforcement agencies are strictly

monitoring social media. Any provocative post will immediately get the attention of law enforcement agencies,” the home minister added.

About his recent visit to India, Asaduzzaman said his counterpart Indian Home Minister Amit Shah had greatly appreciated the communal harmony in Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh is now a role model in the world for communal harmony. Therefore, we must work together to maintain communal harmony,“ he added.

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumdar, DIG of PBI Banaj Kumar Majumdar, and DMP Wari division deputy commissioner Md. Ibrahim Khan were present at the program.
