Sleep disorder lab at BSMMU

BSS, Dhaka

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) opened the first ‘Sleep Lab’ in the country yesterday.

Vice Chancellor of BSMMU Professor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua inaugurated the

lab at 8am in the morning at the 6th floor of C-block of BSMMU, said a

release.

Patients with sleep disorders or snoring can get their sleep tested at the lab by Polysomnogram, the latest machine to identify sleep disorders at a low cost.

The lab will also have facilities for tests and sleep study for ‘Adnoyed’ sleep disorder patients.

Sleep disorder is increasing worldwide alarmingly. If not diagnosed and treated in time, it can result in high blood pressure or heart diseases.

Southeast University observes National Mourning Day

STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

Southeast University (SEU) observed the National Mourning Day 2019 on Thursday marking the 44th anniversary of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, says a press release.

On the occasion a discussion meeting and Dua Mahfil was organised by the

SEU.

Liberation War Affairs Minister A K M Mozammel Haque was present as the

chief guest.

The discussion meeting was chaired by the Vice-chancellor of Southeast University, Prof Dr ANM Meshquat Uddin while M Kamaluddin Chowdhury, representative member of BoT was present as the special guest.

Prof Dr Md. Abdul Hakim, Director of IQAC gave the welcome speech.

Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed (Retd), Registrar of SEU also took part in the discussion session.

Among others, Adviser to BoT, Pro Vice Chancellor, Deans, Chairmen, teachers, officials and students were present on the occasion.

The programme ended with prayer for Bangabandhu and welfare of Bangladesh.
