Two die in Madaripur road accident

BSS, Madaripur

Two people were killed and another was injured as a bus hit a van in Kalkini upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Matleb Matbor, 60, hailed from Kalkini municipality area and Ummani Begum, 52, a resident at Maizpara village in the upazila. They were passengers of the van.

Police said the accident occurred around 11 am at Karnpara on Dhaka-Barisal Highway. Matleb Matbor died on the spot while Ummani Begum died under treatment at Madaripur Sadar Hospital. Injured van driver was referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Mahabub Abir, a medical officer of Madaripur Sadar Hospital, confirmed the death. Besides, a construction labour died falling off a building in Pathokkandi area in the town. The victim was identified as Monir Sheikh, 27, an inhabitant in Tubia area in Sadar Upazila.
