PM dealing with BCL issues: Quader

UNB, Dhaka

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina herself is looking into the matter involving the incumbent president and general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). "Any amendment or change to BCL will be handled by the Prime Minister herself," he told reporters at the Secretariat.

Asked about upcoming BCL council, the minister said: "There’s been no decision about it yet.

It's an internal party matter." He said the premier tasked four party leaders to deal with BCL issues. Recently, speculation was rife on social media that the prime minister had made a call for dissolving the central committee of BCL allegedly after ‘growing increasingly frustrated’ with the activities of BCL President Rezwanul Huq Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani.

The matter was later reported by various media outlets, but Quader said no decision has been taken over the BCL top brasses as of now.
