81,628 patients afflicted so far

One more dies of dengue
STAFF REPORTER, Dhaka

One more patient died of dengue at the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) yesterday. The deceased was identified as Rojina Begum, 35, wife of Khairul Islam, from Jhikargacha upazila of Jashore district.

She breathed his last at the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while undergoing dengue treatment in a critical condition.

Rojina was admitted to the hospital Thursday morning, said Dr. Sailenda Bishwas, residential physician of the hospital.

However, a total of 508 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours.

Of them, 165 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka while remaining 343 in other parts of the country outside the capital.

Meanwhile, a total of 81,628 patients have already been released from hospitals after treatment, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room.

As of now, the number of recorded dengue patients has hit 83,989. Of them, at least 52,636 were hospitalised in August alone.

The number of dengue patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country stands at 2,158.

In total, 902 patients are currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in the capital, whereas a total of 1,256 patients are undergoing treatment outside the capital. The DGHS has so far analysed 116 out of 203 cases of death and confirmed 68 deaths to have been caused by the mosquito-borne disease.
