Workshop on usages of bio pesticides held

The Entomology Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) arranged a day-long teacher’s training workshop titled ‘Insects and disease management using bio pesticides based technology in fruits and vegetables’ at the hall room of Pubail Adarsha College in  Gazipur on Friday.  A total of 105 teachers from different educational institutes in Gazipur participated in the training workshop. BARI Director General Dr Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest while Chief Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr Debashish Sarker presided over the function.  BARI Director (Planning & Evaluation) Md Habibur Rahman Sheikh, former directors Dr Syed Nurul Alam and Dr Madan Gopal Shaha, Principal of Pubail Adarsha College Prof Md Qayyum Khan were present as special guest.

Scientists and officials from various divisions of BARI were also present on the occasion.  Principal Scientific Officer of Entomology Division Dr. Nirmal Kumar Dutta conducted the function.

JU admission tests begin today

The admission tests for the first year honours courses under the academic session 2019-20 in Jahangirnagar University (JU) will begin today with the ‘A Unit’ test under Mathematical and Physical Sciences faculty. Breaking all records, 3, 59,962 admission seekers will vie against only 1,889 seats under six faculties and three institutes, said Member Secretary of Central Admission Managing Committee and Deputy Registrar (Education – 1) Abu Hasan said.  “The admission tests will be held every day in six shifts. We have available information for the admission seekers at our official website – https://ju-admission.org”, he added.  Meanwhile, the university authorities have taken all sorts of preparations to conduct the admission tests successfully.  “We have taken all preparations so that the admission seekers can attend their exams without any hassle. We will try to ensure adequate security on the campus to avoid any unwanted incident”, JU Proctor Associate Professor A S M Feroz Ul Hasan said.  “Like previous year we will also deploy a mobile court on the campus. In all points, our committee members will stay on duty during the admission tests”, he added. Earlier, on August 7, the online admission process was begun that continued till September 7. The admission tests will continue till October 1.
