Bangladesh U-15 women’s team earned a fighting 1-1 goal draw against strong India in their third and last match of the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship match yesterday at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan.

With this outcome, both Bangladesh and India, who have already confirmed their final spots, secured seven points from three matches but India topped the table by virtue of better goal difference. Both the teams will now play the final for the battle of SAFF crown scheduled to be held tomorrow at the same venue.

In the day’s match, Amisha Baxla put India ahead in the 24th minute but their lead lasted a little as Swapna Rani scored the equaliser for Bangladesh in the 26th minute of the match.

After the resumption, both the teams got several scoring chances but failed to increase the lead.

Earlier, Bangladesh got off to a winning start as they blanked host Bhutan by 2-0 goals and defeated Nepal by 2-1 goals.

On the other hand, India crushed Nepal by 4-1 goals in their opening match and dumped host Bhutan by 10-1 goals in the second match.

Bangladesh won all their three matches to become champions in the inaugural edition but lost to India with a solitary goal in the final of the last edition held in Bhutan.
