Alice gets ready for upcoming BPL

SPORTS REPORTER, Dhaka
Alice gets ready for upcoming BPL

The new find in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Alice Al Islam has returned to cricket after bearing the brunt of surgical operation on his knee. The off-spinner is now spending more time in the gym to get back his fitness. Along with that, he is bowling. He will attend the bowling test ahead to remove the suspicion what was over his bowling action. Getting the release paper of his legal bowling from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Alice wants to make him ready for the next BPL.

Nasiruddin Ahmed Nasu, the member of the BCB Bowling Reviewing Committee, is now in Sri Lanka with the Bangladesh ‘A’ Team. Alice will give his bowling test under his supervision.

Bangladesh second string team will return home from Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the one-day series on October 13. Probably the bowling test of Alice will be held at the National Cricket Academy ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on October 15.

It’s not unknown to all the emergence of Alice Al Islam. He debuted on the last BPL for Dhaka Dynamites and slammed the credible hat-trick on his BPL debut that placed him in BPL history.

Riding on his four-wicket bursts, Dhaka Dynamites thrashed Rangpur Riders in the topsy-turvy match. A question surrounding his bowling action put up from that match though he was derailed from the BPL while his ligament tore after two matches.

Therefore, he was far from cricket for so long. The rookie spinner witnessed the turns and twists of life during his short-stay in cricket that happened within a week.

His surgery on his knee had been held in March in India after being received injury in January. Dynamites bore all the expenditure of his surgery.

Having stayed in rehab process, he has been doing his gym at the NCA ground with a day break. Before that, he works over fitness and bowling at Bangla Track Cricket Academy in Rajshahi.

Alice can’t give his bowling test during the BPL for being struck injury. Being fit from his injury, Alice thinks that this is the right time to give his bowling test. But he focuses more on his fitness than his bowling action test. He weighed much for being stayed at home for so long. The 22-year-old spinner is waiting for the ensuing BPL in December. He wants to take part in it having fit completely.

“I’m not a hundred percent fit yet. You can consider it 80 percent. Now I’m bowling a bit. We’ve BPL in December. My main challenge is to make me fit before that,” said Alice Al Islam.

“There is a suspicion around my bowling action. But I firmly believe that my arm bents less than 15 degrees,” Alice told The Independent.

“I gave myself a test to the BCB during playing the domestic league that was for my carom delivery, where it was bent only seven degrees. Hopefully it will not be more than 10 degrees during my next bowling test,” he added.
