Due to unavailability of a suitable venue, ‘Bengal Classical Music Festival’ will not be held this year too, a press release issued by Bengal Foundation, the organiser of the world’s biggest classical music festival, said yesterday.

The press release said that Bengal Foundation finalised the plan for arranging the seventh edition of five-day festival from November 28. Like the previous years, it applied to the Army Sports Control Board for the allotment of Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital for consecutive five nights. But the board has denied the allotment of the Army Stadium for ‘Bengal Classical Music Festival 2019’.

However, starting with the first edition in 2012, Bengal Foundation arranged the six successful seasons of the classical music festival till 2017. The organisation also failed to arrange the festival last year as they struggled to manage a suitable venue in the capital.

The first five editions of the festival were arranged at the Bangladesh Army Stadium, while the festival moved to Dhanmondi’s Abahani Playground to host the sixth edition in 2017.
