BRAHMANBARIA TRAIN ACCIDENT

Probe committee fails to submit report

STAFF REPOTER, Dhaka
Probe committee fails
to submit report

A probe committee of Brahmanbaria train accident could not submit its report which was due yesterday owing to not having statements from railway staffs and officials. The probe report formed by Brahmanbaria district administration remained incomplete as the body could not take statements of the Mondobagh Railway Station Master Jaker Hossain Chowdhury and Turna Nishita Loco Master Taser Uddin and Assistant Loco Master Opu Dey.

The probe report remained incomplete as the committee could not take statements, said Additional District Magistrate and Chief of the Probe Committee Mitu Mariam.

The committee has sent letter to the concerned department of Bangladesh Railway to help them contact the alleged persons involved in the accident, she added.

The station master is in Chattogram to face the Bangladesh Railway’s Chattogram division probe committee while the loco master and assistant loco master have absconded.

Mariam said that they could not reach any of them. They also did not find the log-sheet of the station master on spot of the accident.

Earlier on Friday, a probe report formed by Eastern divisional railway was submitted to the railway director general where the probe committee found negligence of Turna Nishita Express driver, its assistant and guard behind the incident.

In that report, the probe body recommended for their administrative punishment and also suggested to modernize the railway signal system.
