The closing night of the three-day ‘Dhaka International Folk Fest 2019’ drew huge crowd at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital yesterday. The music enthusiasts from all walks of life, including a large number of young audiences, gathered at the venue to enjoy the fascinating performances by music maestros from home and abroad on the final day of the fifth edition of the festival.

The celebrated singers and musicians from three countries--Bangladesh, Pakistan and Russia—performed last night.

Yesterday, the final day of the festival, opened with the performance of Malek Kawal and his troupe from Bangladesh.

He performed several popular numbers of Qawwali and Maizbhandari songs.

After the performance of Malek Kawal, Sattuma--a folk band from Russia--took the stage and enthralled the audience with melodious folk music performance by combining traditional folk music with their original style.

The songs of Sattuma ranged from the dialects of Finnish, Karelian and Russian. The line-up of the artistes for the concluding day also included Chandana Majumdar from Bangladesh and Junoon, a Sufi rock band from Pakistan.

Initiated by Sun Foundation, ‘Dhaka International Folk Fest 2019’ was organised by Sun Communications Ltd. This year, more than 200 artistes from six countries, including Bangladesh, shared the same stage to celebrate the music of the hearts.
