Quality assurance in higher edn stressed

 Academic at a seminar here yesterday mentioned that quality assurance in higher education and the technical and technological ones in particular is very important for generating skilled workforce to serve the nation competently. They categorically viewed there is no scope of compromising with quality of education as generating competent workforce is the pre-condition to foster the country’s economic condition through facing existing challenges.

They made this observation while addressing the opening ceremony of a daylong seminar titled “Role of IQAC in enhancing quality of higher study” held at the conference room of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of RUET hosted the seminar in order to discuss and devise ways and means on how to assurance quality in its education and academic activities.

The seminar was told that the role of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell has proven as quite significant in all these years to create a kind of positive change in the overall functioning of the RUET. Member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Alamgir addressed the session as the chief guest with RUET Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh in the chair.

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell Director Prof Abdul Gaffar Khan, RUET Registrar Prof Selim Hossain, Research and Extension Director Prof Faruque Hossain, Planning and Development Director Prof Jaglul Sadat and Students Welfare Director Prof Rabiul Awal and UGC Deputy Director Bishnu Mallik also spoke on the occasion.

Prof Alamgir urged all concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to transform the RUET into an entity of generating more skilled human resources.

He said disciplinary action should be taken against the bad elements of hindering and obstructing academic activities here promptly.

Prof Alamgir also urged the university authority to properly utilise the public money and put emphasis on developing the nation through providing quality education.

In his remarks, Prof Abdul Gaffar Khan said the role of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell is very instrumental in bringing about so many positive changes in and around the university premises.

Moreover, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell can create a very good academic atmosphere in the premises so that the quality is maintained and enhanced from time to time.
