ACC officials to get training in India in April

UNB, Dhaka

Officials of Anti-Corruption Commission will go to Gujarat Forensic Science University in April next year for special training on corruption investigation and prosecuting criminals. Deputy High Commissioner of the Indian High Commission Bishwadip Dey sent a letter in this regard, said ACC sources. The commission has been working to increase the capability of its officials by training them at home and abroad, said ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood. Specialised university on forensic subject will help ACC officials while conducting digital investigation, he added.  Earlier on September 29, ACC Secretary Muhammad Delwar Bakht urged Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh through a letter to organise specialised training on curbing and preventing corruption.

Cotton warehouse catches fire

UNB, Gazipur

A fire broke out at a cotton warehouse of NR Textile Mill in Porabari area here yesterday morning.  Locals and workers said the fire broke out at 6:30am just after they had arrived there.  Mamunur Rashid, deputy assistant director of Gazipur Fire Service, said two firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after two hours of frantic efforts.  The fire might have originated from an electric short-circuit, he added.

Air chief leaves for UAE

BSS, Dhaka

Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat on Friday left Dhaka for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a four day official visit. He will be accompanied by his spouse and a two-member entourage during his visit at the invitation of the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense, the UAE, said a press release of ISPR. During the visit, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force will participate in Dubai International Air Force Commanders Conference and Dubai Air Show 2019.
