The National Board of Revenue (NBR) collected Tk 357.79 crore on the sixth day of the week-long Income tax fairs.   

On the sixth day of the fairs, a total of 1,19,145 taxpayers submitted income tax returns throughout the country and all the fairs venues including divisional headquarters and central one at the officers’ club in the capital yesterday.     

Some 2, 52,815 people received services related to income tax payment from taxmen.

Some 5,325 people have registered in electronic tax identification number (e-TIN).

This statistics show the eagerness and enthusiasm of people for paying tax, said NBR officials during the fair.    

In total, The National Board of Revenue (NBR) collected Tk 2016.45 crore in the six days of the week-long income tax fairs.        

In total of 5,39,910 taxpayers submitted income tax returns throughout the country and all the fairs venues including divisional headquarters and central one at the officers’ club in the capital yesterday.       

Some 15,12,592 people received services related to income tax payment from taxmen.

Some 26,831 people have registered in electronic tax identification number (e-TIN).

The fairs will continue in all the divisional cities including the capital till November 20.

National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the fairs would be held in all the district headquarters for four days while for two days in 48 upazilas. Besides, a one-day ‘mobile income tax fairs’ will be held at eight growth centers at upazila-level.

The slogan of this edition of the fairs is “Sobai Mile Dibo Kor, Desh Hobe Swanirbhor’ while the theme of the fair has been set at “Voluntaryparticipation in paying taxes, implementation of vision is ensured”.    

Taxpayers were able to file tax returns and perform other tax related tasks at the fair without any hassle, said organisers.

The new inclusion in the fair was tax training through audio-visual means.

Separate booths were set up at the fair venues for e-payment and freedom fighters, women, people with disabilities and elderly taxpayers.

They said that tax officials would receive tax returns as long as people would remain at the fairs venues till the last day of the fairs. NBR took the decision expecting huge rush of taxpayers in the concluding day, they said.

Nilufar Jahan, in her mid-60s, said as the fair has a separate booth for the female taxpayers and the senior citizens of the country it is better for anyone to submit their income tax return or anything related to the tax to finish here.
