After the conclusion of the BPL Players’ Draft-2019, Dhaka Platoon, sponsored by Jamun Bank, look to be formed the strongest team amongst the participating seven BPL teams on paper. For this, they had to spend more money than the other teams.

They picked the highest number of 16 players from the Players’ draft, wherein they picked players in every set of round calling.

The Players’ Draft of the upcoming edition of the Bangabandhu-Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was held on Sunday from where the BPL teams picked their chosen players through lottery.

Dhaka bought three players including Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shahid Afridi from A-plus bands. As a result, the expense of the team has exceeded to Tk four crore. Overall, they have spent Tk. four crore and 48 lakh.

Of them, they have to spend Tk one crore to buy two local A-plus category players and $ 1,00,000 one lakh for A-plus category foreign player-Boom Boom Shahid Afridi.

They needed to spend Tk. two crore and 22 lakh behind 10 local players while Tk. two crore and 26 lakh behind six foreign players.

Sylhet Thunders comparatively spent less number of money among the teams. They roped in nine local and five foreign players, where there is no A-plus category player. They spent Tk. one crore and 48 lakh behind their local recruit, whilst Tk. one crore and 26 lakh behind the overseas recruit. Overall, they spent half of Dhaka Platoon’s expenses.

Khulna Tigers paid out the second highest after Dhaka Platoon. Unlike Dhaka, they recruited 16 players from Players’ Draft including 10 local and six overseas players. They bought two players from A-plus bracket including Mushfiqur Rahim and South Africa’s Rilee Rousseau. They did not pick any player from A-category.

Overall, they had to expend Tk. three crore and 97 lakh, of which they used up Tk. one crore and 71 lakh behind their 10 local players and Tk. two crore and 26 lakh behind six foreign cricketers.

The rest of the four teams such as Rajshahi Royals, Cumilla Warriors, Rangpur Rangers and Chattogram Challengers burned up near amount of money.

Unlike Dhaka and Khulna, Chattogram formed their team by 16 players including 10 local and six foreign players for whom they spent Tk. three crore and 71 lakh.

Cumilla Warriors spent Tk three crore and 65 lakh, Rangpur Rangers paid up Tk. three crore and 61 lakh and Rajshahi Royals spent Tk. three crore and 50 lakh to pick their respective players from the Players’ Draft.
