Bangabandhu nat’l school hockey begins

SPORTS REPORTER, Dhaka

Police Line School of Faridpur district began their final phase with winning note in the Bangabandhu First Security Islami Bank National School Hockey Championship defeating Rafique Uddin Memorial High School by 2-1.

Held at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium, in the day’s other match, Shishu Niketon School of Rangpur and Police Line School of Mymensigh shared points after one all draw.

In the first match, Mymensigh Police Line School came from a goal down to snatch a point from Shishu Niketon of Rangpur.

Aminur Rahman led Shishu Niketon with a beautiful field goal in the fifth minute and Mohammed Badhon scored the equalizer for Mymensingh Police Line School on 36th minute.  In the closely contested second match of the day, Police Line School of Faridpur also came from behind to win the match.

Rafique Uddin Memorial High School of Cumilla District took the lead through Arif converting a penalty corner on 29th minute.

But the Faridpur Police Line School bounced back strongly to win the match when Mursalin Khan converted two penalty corners with equalising the margin on 44th and struck the winning goal on 47th.

Meanwhile, the final phase of the School Hockey Championship began from yesterday at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium when 18 teams from nine venues qualified in the finals.
