BCB dismisses 2 NCL coaches for flouting rules

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sacked two local coaches not for following the board’s directives to include leg-spinners to the playing eleven in the ongoing second round of the National Cricket League (NCL). The Board took stern action against Dhaka Division coach Jahangir Alam and Rangpur Division coach Masud Parvez on Thursday by dismissing them from their coaching roles for overriding the board’s directives for not including Jubayer Hossain Likhon and Rishad Hossain to their respective sides in the NCL. Ousting the duo, the BCB also named two new coaches Mohammad Selim and Jafrul Ehsan for Dhaka Division and Rangpur Division respectively on the same day. Given priority to leg-spinning options, the Board made it mandatory for each team to play at least one leg-spinner in the country’s domestic cricket. But Likhon and Rishad had been omitted from the playing XI on both occasions (rounds) of the NCL.

Earlier, on Thursday’s press briefing at the SBNCS in Mirpur, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon slammed the ousted coaches saying that, “We’ve been continuously talking about our leg-spinning options. Even after our directives Likhon, Rishad had not been selected in the squad. What would we do if such things happen?  Why don’t we have that control at our hands? This is why the two coaches have been summoned. They must answer to the questions. If we don’t give room to them, how would they emerge as players,’’ the BCB chief questioned.
