Local giant Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC), the first team to bring back their foreign coach and foreign booters, started practice sessions from November 15 ahead of the coming season.
In accordance with the earlier schedule announced on last month, the season will resume on December 19.
However, the domestic powerhouse MSC, having been deprived of any trophy for the last few years and remaining almost out of the list among the title contenders, seems very much committed this time to bring back at least some of their glories.
Therefore, they did not delay in taking initiatives for preparing their team by converging almost all of their players including their foreign coach and two foreign booters and starting practice from last week.
Former national star Imtiaz Ahemd Nakib who is the Manager of MSC provided the information after the practice session when talking to The Independent on Monday.
Nakib said, “You know, Sean Brendan Lane worked as our Head Coach in last season though the league was postponed after sixth leg but we were very happy with his service and did not make any delay to renew the deal almost a month back and he came back on November 12.”
“He has already joined the team and started his job along with his deputies i.e. local coaches Alfaz Ahmed and Nizam Majumdar after staying in quarantine and undergoing Covid-19 test.
“We have also completed signing with two off the four foreign booters and have been trying to bring a stopper and a midfielder from Nigeria.
Last season’s Japanese midfielder Uryu Nagata (Asian quota) and forward of Mali Souleymane Diabate who played in the last season have already joined the team’s practice,” Nakib said while replying to a query.
Nakib, also the former captain of MSC informed that they are trying to manage a venue out of Dhaka for 15 days’ camp – “We have been trying to manage a practice venue outside Dhaka and hopefully it would be done within next week in Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Pratisthan (BKSP) or Cumilla Stadium.”
Meanwhile, Mohammedan after their long struggling seasons, looked a bit impressive in the last season as they secured the fourth place with four wins out of six matches in the unfinished league.
Inaugural tournament of the season, Federation Cup is knocking at the door as all the clubs of Bangladesh Premier Football League have already started making their preparation and working out to go for full-fledged practice.
