New Covid case changes New Zealand-Australia T20I schedule

A new Covid-19 case in New Zealand has raised alert levels in the country and disrupted the men's and women's bilateral series against Australia and England respectively.

With the city of Auckland moved to alert level 3, the double-header scheduled for Friday (March 5) will now be played in Wellington behind closed doors. Both the Black Caps and the White Ferns will stay on in Wellington following their respective games on March 3 which will also be played to empty stands.

Double-header scheduled at Tauranga on March 7 will go ahead as planned while New Zealand Cricket (NZC) will wait for government advice on crowds.

The decision follows Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern instituting a week of level 3 lockdown in Auckland after the Ministry of Health revealed a potentially infectious Covid Case in the community, the 13th individual connected to the city's February cluster.

The Black Caps lead their five-match T20I series 2-0. New Zealand Women trail England by an identical score in their ODI series and will play the dead-rubber ODI tomorrow (February 28) before the T20I series.
