Bangladesh want to forget this New Zealand series: Mahmudullah

Bangladesh T20 captain Mahmudullah Riyad said that the Tiger will want to forget this New Zealand series as early as possible as they failed to put up any spirited show there miserably once again.

The Tigers lost all of the six matches (three ODIs and three T20Is) in the tour despite coming here to achieve something what no Bangladesh team could do. But they only extended their losing streak here, which now reached 32 (16 ODIs, 9 Tests and 7 T20s).

In the last T20 match today, which was reduced to 10 overs due to rain, Bangladesh conceded a 65-run defeat after being all out for 76, while chasing a stiff target of 142.

Mahmudullah could not play the game due to injury and Liton Das led the side in absence of him.

It was the first time for Bangladesh to play a match in 15 without the senior five players—Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad—who are adorably called as Fabulous Five.

“When you will be all out for 76, there is nothing to take positives. I think we couldn’t play our best cricket in the whole series,” Mahmudullah said in a recorded video message sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) today.

“We had come here earlier and had a good camp in Queenstown. The players worked hard, did their gym perfectly, put in hard yards but we failed to show any performance on the field. As captain it’s disappointing for me. We obviously will want to forget this because we came here to achieve something that we couldn’t do earlier. We were desperate for the series but we could do nothing,” a dejected Mahmudullah added.
