Man killed by rivals in Sylhet

A man was killed allegedly by his rivals over personal enmity at Kurikhola village in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Kamal Uddin, 50, son of Abdul Hashim.

Quoting the victim's family, police said, a group of 15-20 people attacked Kamal as he was passing through the Bangabir area on Salutikor-Goainghat Road in the evening.

Later, they hit Kamal with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured, said Abdul Ahad, officer-in-charge of Goainghat Police Station.

Kamal was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital, where died during treatment hours later.

Police have arrested three persons in connection with the attack.
